And now she’s back! From Outer Space!

Well not really from outer space (I WISH!), but more like real life got far too hard to deal with (fuck you forever cancer) and I didn’t even think about this blog for a while. However, that did NOT stop me from falling head over heels for indies and buying stuff like crazy!

My most recent deliveries from the mail man: an indie exchange from a wonderful gal over at Indiemakeupandmore subreddit & the Birchbox LE Homesweet Homespun box!

I had an excellent exchange partner, who really nailed it out of the park on her gifts. I mean really with candy, eyeshadow, yummy perfume, sparkle-bomb blushes, AND a custom shiro gloss how could it be wrong?? Heck yes!

My precious

First up, the Shiros!

My gal ordered me a custom gloss in Day of Reckoning! YAY!! It’s an awesome fall metallic. It looks sexy with one coat, and I can’t wait to build it up and layer!! I also scored Yzma’s Essence of Llama, which is spectacularly amazing and some great samples.

One layer, matches my sweater no?

Up next, my very first My Pretty Zombie blushes!!! The sample colors are great too, but I am soo excited to try MDMA and 6MAM! They are gorgeous, high pigmented (see swatches at the end!) and I love the drug references, heh.

Creepy skeleton hand included!

Last, but not least at all, amazing scents from sixteen92 (an incredible indie perfumery that I need to order more from STAT). Her winter collection is launching TOMORROW and includes some really badass sounding scents.

Black Sugar, has notes of “Spun brown sugar, red berries, vanilla and tonka bean absolute dance with a sprinkle of dirt, a swirl of cauldron smoke, and a drop of bittersweet cocao absolute.” Basically, it’s incredible!! The touch of dirt and smoke make it not overwhemingly sweet and foodie. I am finding myself loving chocolate scents more and more with my body chemistry. I also really like the hint of berry that comes through. It also lasts for EONS on me.

Ex Tenebris Lux, with notes of “Labdanum, Benzoin, Tonka and Vanilla Absolute with Patchouli, Oakmoss, Blood Orange, Bergamot and Tuberose” is so very interesting on my body! I don’t get much of the blood orange or vanilla, but it smells deliciously familiar somehow. Maybe a touch like incense on me and some trees of sorts? This is part of the winter collection, debuting tomorrow.

Now, swatchy swatch time! From top to bottom – Shiro custom gloss, Yzma’s Essence of Llama, My Pretty Zombie 6MAM, and finally MDMA.

Can y’all even handle the sparkle city that is happening on my arm?? This is without ANY PRIMER guys. Just beautiful products, made to glow on my face. This is why I love indies. I honestly haven’t touched my non-indie makeup in months and really need to get rid of it all (except dat Naked3). The quality is top notch and all the shop owners I’ve encountered have been wonderful.

As a bonus, here is a pic of me rocking my OWN custom creation from Shiro. I emailed with Caitlin about making Wetch (a now sold-out Halloween shade) into a gloss, with a bit more deep berry to make extra fall worthy. I also got pumpkin cheesecake flavoring to make it divine.

It also matches my new hair! Went dark for fall 😀

I’ll unbox the Homesweet Homespun in my next post (hopefully later tonight or tomorrow)! xoxoxo

Mini Zoya Haul!!

My name is Rachel and I have a nail polish problem In my defense, Zoya had a promo last week that was buy any polish get 1 green free. It started that I was just going to order 2. That turned into 4 polishes, 1 free one, and 1 free mini polish remover all for $30! I love Zoya, they always have great promos and consistently great polish.

L-R: Flynn, Evvie, Hunter, Payton, and Monica

I just got them in the mail today after patiently (not really) waiting for exactly 1 week to get them. YAYAY! I tore through the box like it was Christmas morning (well, 1st night of Hannukah for me). I did the quickest swatch because I couldn’t decide which to play with first. In the coming weeks, I’ll post em all individually.

L-R: Flynn, Evvie, Hunter, Payton, and Monica. All 2 coats.

First impression, LOVE. The formula for Flynn is a bit thick, but that’s ok. It’s also not as orange as it appears in the photo. Evvie is gorgeoussss. Hunter is AMAZE tho I want it to be a tad darker. Payton is also a beaut. The glitter is fierce and she dries smooth. Monica is also purdy and the formula was a bit thin.

Zoya is also running another promo right now that you buy 1 Spirit Trio get 1 free + free shipping! That’s 6 polishes for $22. I almost caved and ordered last night, but I have my hands full with these babies. Must.resist.

In other news, I am not even going to comment on the Bondi scandal, besides the fact that I am just happy I only invested $1 in the company & have received it back. As much as I wanted those gorgeous 3 polishes, who knows if they ever even existed and the wonderful ladies at MUT already found dupes for me 🙂

Smashbox Wondervision Set – Flash

Makeup brands everywhere are gearing up for the holidays already and have been releasing kits for the last month or so. I was at ULTA over the weekend (sidebar, NYC, you need to get some ULTAs, I missed the shit out of them when I was there), and saw this beauty up for grabs. For $32, you receive an eyeshadow palette with 6 colors (3 mattes and 3 glitters), a full-size Full Exposure Mascara in Jet Black, and a full-size Limitless Eyeliner in Onxy. I had a hard time choosing between Flash (the beautiful purples you see here) or Sparks (a gorgeous nude/gold palette). The saleswomen convinced me to go with Flash as I already own so many nude palettes and I’m glad she did.

The cute packaging-

Full Exposure Mascara –

A solid mascara, nothing revolutionary though. Does make my lashes have a bit of oomph, definitely more volumizing than lengthening and NOT I repeat NOT waterproof. Found that out the hard way. Overall, while I may not buy it, not a bad freebie!

Limitless Eyeliner –

Again, a nice black eyeliner. While it doesn’t come up great in my lovely iPhone 4 photo, it is definitely jet black and lasts! I had to scrub a bit to get this line off my hand.

The Palette closed & opened –

Is it not beautiful or what? The plum is to die for and I love the sparkles to give the smoky eye some OOMPH.

Swatches – No primer, no flash, straight up bathroom lighting y’all. The colors can be used both wet and dry, and the plum lends itself well working as a liner.

Colors (top to bottom) – Plum, Pink Shell, Ballet Pink, Slate, Purple Shimmer, Taupe

Plum is a great, well, plum color! It’s a deep matte purple, goes on well, and is layer-able. Great for a smoky eye.

Pink Shell is a very light pink, while hard to see on my white ass, I’m sure it’ll look great on darker skin ladies (or gents!). Also nice as a highlighter.

Ballet Pink, another great name, really does remind me of ballet shoes. Does go on a bit chalky, but pretty.

Slate is a great deep grey glitter. Not a ton of fallout and great for a pop of glitter in the smoky eye.

Purple Shimmer, while not quite purple, gorgeous nonetheless. Did find the fallout to be more noticeable here, but it’s just so pretty. Comes out more pink of my skintone.

Taupe is a nice light brown glitter. Would have liked either another matte or purple shade instead of this, but it does look purdy.

Overall, I’d give this holiday set an 7.5/10. I wish some of the glitters didn’t fallout as much and definitely wish the mascara was waterproof but it’s an excellent value and would make a great gift for someone!
